Are you practicing good healthy eating habits during the holidays? If you’re like me, you’re probably eating on the run while scurrying thru the malls trying to find that perfect gift for everyone on your list or better yet, celebrating with holiday parties both at home and at work.
But have you ever considered what you’re doing to your body in the process? Take it from me, by the time the new year rolls in, my body was a wreck! I really needed to change the way I ate.

But I learned the hard way! I went through so many struggles trying to install healthy eating habits into my life so I want to help you avoid what happened to me. I’ve come up with a system that really works. Let me show you now.
My Healthy Eating Habits System
The first thing you need to do is make your healthy eating habits work for you, not against you. You need to have a different approach during the holidays. This means pick your spots when to indulge. This way you can avoid the guilt that comes with overeating.
The second thing you must do is to make sure you eat slowly so you fill up faster. It is a well known fact among doctors that it takes the body longer to realize when it is full so if you eat slower, you will not be prone to overeating.
Pay attention to your body! If you are tired, irritable, or are depressed don’t let food become your crutch to lean on to. We tend to throw our healthy eating habits out the door when we have problems that are bothering us. I know I did but I realized my mistake and made adjustments so I could improve my healthy eating habits.
Now, these ideas may seem easy at first but in reality we all struggle during the holidays. Why? Because we haven’t learned patience in our healthy eating habits. The holidays can be a whirlwind of non-stop activity and we may not be thinking that what we are eating can make us sick. It’s easy to get sidetracked.
Healthy Eating Habits We Need
Healthy eating habits are learned. They are not part of our DNA. But this is a good thing. We need to be aware of everything we put into our bodies. We also need to be aware of our situation. What I mean by that is we need to be in control of our situation when it comes to food. Don’t get caught in the moment and don’t let what others do influence what you eat.
Healthy eating habits depend on how we deal with everything that comes our way. There will be times when we give in but when we are aware of what we are doing we can remain in control. Lose that control and you will pay the price.
